Ride The Karoo on a 100 Miler or 50 Miler journey through the beautiful Sneeuberg region experiencing wildlife, water point stops like no other to typical windpomp scenes along the way. The 100 Miler participants will be welcomed to a water point stop in the quaint village of Nieu Bethesda. 2022 offer a celebration of the new venue at Dwarsvlei Farm which presents a slight change in the route at the beginning and end of the route with the start and finish at the beautiful Dwarsvlei Farm. Ride the Karoo presents a weekend experience where you will spend two nights at Dwarsvlei under the Karoo stars and be treated to a Karoo braai, fresh farm bread, condensedmilk coffee, koeksisters & craft beer. The Karoo and its people truly show in the food!
ROUTE DETAILS:
Ride The Karoo's 100 miler (168km) heads out towards Compassberg on a combination of smooth jeeptracks and district roads. Riders will gradually be going up in elevation followed by a downhill that will most definitely put a huge grin on the face as riders make their way down to the quaint village of Nieu Bethesda. Here they will be greeted by the third and main water point on the day. Here riders will be treated to ice cold, locally made ginger beer and numerous bites to fuel them for the second half of the ride. As riders head out of Nieu Bethesda to complete the rest of their ride, they enter the Sneeuberg & Bergplaas Nature Reserve where numerous wildlife like eland, kudus, wildebeest, zebras and more can be seen. Riders will have 5 water points & 3 self help water stations to fuel up along the way.
